Protect Yourself From Phishing Scams

At Citizens FCU, protecting your personal and financial information is a top priority. We want to alert you to a growing type of fraud targeting credit union members across the country: phishing scams.

In these scams, fraudsters pretend to be from a trusted credit union or financial institution. They may contact you by phone, email, or text—often using spoofed caller IDs or logos that look official. Their goal is to trick you into revealing sensitive information like your online banking credentials, account numbers, or Social Security number.

Once they have this information, scammers can access your account, lock you out, and make unauthorized transactions. In one recent case, fraudsters stole nearly $2 million from victims by impersonating bank employees over the phone.

To keep your information safe:
• Never share personal details from an unsolicited call, email, or text.
• If something feels off, hang up and call us directly using our official phone number.
• Monitor your account regularly for any suspicious activity.
• Enable two-factor authentication on your online banking profile if you haven’t already.

If you ever have questions or suspect fraud on your account, please contact us right away. Your financial security is important to us.
